Following the recent releases by the WWE, it is a refreshing to report on Dustin Rhdoes rejoining the company.
After making an appearance at the Cyber Sunday pay per view, Dustin, who of course potrays the character Goldust has faxed a signed copy of the contract which states he will work as an in ring performer for the company.
This will be his fifth time under a WWE contract, having made his debut in 1991 in the Royal Rumble match. After a spell in WCW, he would return to the company in 1995 as the character Goldust, whose gimmick was obsessed with film and gold, whilst hinting at his homosexuality.
He would enjoy a good run in the upper regions of the mid card on the roster, winning the Intercontinental Championship on a few occasions.
After the character grew a little stale, he would leave for WCW, where he competed under his own name, before rejoining the WWE in 2002 – where he teamed up alongside Booker T, resulting in many hilarious vignettes.
After a year in TNA in 2004, he would return at Cyber Sunday, only to make brief appearances before being released in 2006.
2007 was a good year for Rhodes, who toured Japan competing against the legendary Great Muta, re-attracting attention from the WWE and TNA.
It was believed that he would have returned to the company last year, however he opted to re-sign for TNA where he played the evil character Black Reign, often teaming with Rellik.
After being brought back into the WWE for the Cyber Sunday pay per view, the backstage officials were impressed with the reaction he received from the crowd and the voting audience.
It is said Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz has wanted to see Dustin return to the brand for quite some time now, as he believes he has something to offer. With his brother Cody, already on the brand there is a possibility that we could see an all Rhodes tag team or feud in the very near future.
